The Tennessean rolled out new features sections a few weeks ago on Wednesday (Taste), Thursday (Family), Friday (Ticket), Saturday (Style) and an expanded Sunday lifestyles section. They’re designed to add more value to the print product, something 1100 Broadway had to do after substantially raising subscription and newsstand prices. But to add local content to the sections (beyond the usual syndicated stuff that they also added), the daily added columns by local bloggers … and out-and-out press releases.
What we didn’t know was that they were turning pages of their paper over to flacks from Vanderbilt Hospital. That’s right, the credit on the bylined pieces reads, “Vanderbilt University Medical Center.”
